The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV

Earlier this year, Chevrolet introduced the world to the all-electric version of its best-selling model, the Silverado. The brand's legendary pickup is preparing to add a chapter to its rich history by seeing one of its variants swap its combustion engine for a fully-electric powertrain. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV.

Design

GM designers didn’t want the Silverado EV to be fluffy. They wanted it to look and feel like a truck. Therefore, the new styling of the electric Silverado is closely related to the gas-powered version. However, the traditional front grille is a thing of the past, replaced by a more EV-appropriate design. The rear end is inspired not by the current Silverado, but by a former glorious Chevy pickup called the Avalanche. Moreover, like in the Avalanche that we all know and love, you can remove the separator between the bed and the cabin in the Silverado EV.

Architecture

Built on the Ultium technology platform, the Silverado EV will benefit from a 200 kWh battery, which should allow the model to offer close to 600 kilometres of range. Two electric motors will provide a four-wheel drive. Power output with the base Silverado EV will be 510 horsepower, but it could rise to 664 with certain variants.

As for capacities, we're talking about the possibility of pulling 10,000 pounds and carrying 1,300 pounds. A model offering the possibility of towing 20,000 pounds is in the plans. Because of its advanced architecture, the Silverado EV will offer exceptionally quick charging times and will be capable of adding 160 kilometres of range in 10 minutes on a DC fast charger.

Trims

GM knows that truck buyers like to have as many options as possible when choosing their next truck. Therefore, The Silverado EV will come in multiple versions, just like the gas-powered model. For example, a WT (Work Truck) version will be available as well as a Trail Boss variant and even a sporty RST model. And from one proposal to another, we will find many nice surprises. Some examples? Rear steerable wheels, adaptive air suspension, optional 24-inch wheels, locking rear differentials, all-terrain tires, driving modes… All of these features are expected in the next Silverado EV.

Can’t wait to see the new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV? You’re not alone. We promise to give you all the details as we get them!
